Stanford Hospital & Clinics and Lucile Packard Children’s Hospital entered into negotiations with UHW on Wednesday, October 29 in the first bargaining session since the employees voted for union representation on September 11. During the session, both sides came to an agreement on general bargaining procedures and future dates and times (shown below). The next location for bargaining has been agreed on but future locations are yet to be confirmed. In addition, work release procedures for those employees wishing to participate in bargaining were also outlined. Under these procedures, the hospitals will notify managers of bargaining dates so that schedules can be arranged accordingly. Bargaining team members are also being asked to seek shift trades where necessary. If patient care or operational needs still cannot be covered, both parties will coordinate a solution.
The hospitals received an initial set of six proposals from UHW. The hospitals have requested that UHW next provide a comprehensive non-economic proposal so that a more complete understanding of the Union’s requests can be considered. The next bargaining session will be held on Wednesday, November 19 at 11am.
